Quake strikes south-eastern Iran
magnitude earthquake has struck a sparsely populated area in south-eastern Iran. The quake's epicentre is near the small mountain town of Hosseinabad, in Kerman province. At least five people were killed during the quake which took place not far from the historic city of Bam where 25,000 people died in 2003, Reuters reports. Iran straddles a major geological fault line, making it prone to tremors. Minor tremors hit the country almost daily.
