The actress was born in Tehran, but left Iran during the 1978 Islamic revolution and went to England, even though she had achieved great acclaim in her homeland. She moved to Los Angeles in 1987, married actor and playwright Houshang Touzie, and is known for her role as Ben Kingley’s wife, Nadi, in the film “House of Sand and Fog,” for which she received an Academy Award nomination.
