Mumbai building collapse kills 16 people amid severe flooding
At least 16 people died after their 117-year old derelict building in India’s western port city of Mumbai collapsed early Thursday morning, following two days of incessant monsoon rain. Police said 24 others were injured in the six-storey Hussani building collapse located in the city’s crowded Bhendi Bazaar, and over a dozen people were trapped under the debris of the building, which was declared uninhabitable by the municipal authorities six years ago.
