Magnitude-6.2 Earthquake Hits Western Iran
A strong earthquake has struck western Iran, near the Iraqi border. The U.S. Geological Survey said the magnitude 6.2 quake hit 36 kilometers southeast of Abdanan early Monday, at a depth of just 10 kilometers. The earthquake left 60 people injured, state news agency IRNA said. Water, electricity, and telephone lines in Abdanan, located in the province of Ilam, have been cut, said IRNA.
