Japan imposes additional sanctions on Iran
Japan slapped additional sanctions on Iran over its disputed nuclear programme on Friday, following the United States and European Union in pressuring Tehran despite Tokyo's reliance on oil imports from the country. The sanctions that go beyond requirements in a prior U.N. Security Council resolution include restrictions on doing business with 15 Iranian banks that could contribute to nuclear activities and a halt to new energy-related investments in Iran.
