Iran Quakes Kill 220; Rescue Teams Seek Survivors
Iranian rescue teams rushed to the northwest of the country after two earthquakes killed at least 220 people and cut telephone lines to villages in the area. The temblors, with magnitudes of 6.4 and 6.3, struck yesterday near Tabriz, the capital of East Azerbaijan province, destroying six villages and cutting the roads to four others, the state-run Mehr news agency said.
