Iran Jails Rights Activist For Six Years
Iran has sentenced a human rights activist to six years in prison on charges of antigovernment activities. Shiva Nazar Ahari is a founder of the Committee of Human Rights Reporters in Tehran. She was arrested in December on her way to the funeral of Grand Ayatollah Hossein Ali Montazeri, the spiritual mentor of the opposition Green movement which opposes the reelection of hard-line President Mahmud Ahmadinejad last year.
