Iran adds Mehregan Park to National Heritage List
Iran has registered the ancient site of Mehregan Park in the southern province of Fars on the country's National Heritage List. Named by locals after a nearby park, the 1.5-meter high site is located near Pasargadae and spans an area of 7,500 square meters. The site houses ruins dating to the Achaemenid era (248 BCE- 224 CE) and archeological excavations in the area have yielded numerous graves as well as glazed and plain earthenware.
