Armed robbers kill 5 Iranian police officers
At least five police officers were killed in a standoff with armed robbers in Iran’s western cities of Khomein and Golpayegan. Armed robbers opened fired on police officers after robbing a bank in Khomein. At least three officers were killed on the spot, Iran’s Fars news agency reported Dec. 28. The robbers then escaped to Golpayegan and engaged in a shootout with police there. Two other police officers and one of the four robbers were killed in the city.
