Iran security forces crack down on armed gunmen
Iranian security forces have engaged in a series of violent clashes with a group of unidentified gunmen in the Western Azarbaijan Province. “The fierce clashes broke out when Police authorities in the city of Urumiyeh identified the gunmen and attempted to arrest them in their hideout,” said Ali Jadidi, a senior Western Azarbaijan police official, told Fars News Agency on Tuesday. Jadidi added that at least one of the gunmen was killed in the seven-hour clashes and that both sides had sustained heavy injuries.
