North Korea, Thailand extend group leads in Asian qualifying
TOKYO (AP) — North Korea and Thailand had wins Tuesday to extend their group leads in the second round of Asian qualifying for the World Cup. Jong Il Gwan's 12th-minute penalty gave the North Koreans a 1-0 win at Pyongyang in Group H, and Thailand beat Vietnam 3-0 at Hanoi with goals from Kroekrit Thaweekarn in the 29th , skipper Theeraton Bunmathan in the 70th and an own-goal from Dinh Tien Thanh to move five points clear in Group F.
