My unique experience as a woman at Azadi Stadium in Tehran
Against all the odds, two weeks ago on a Sunday night, I got to be part of a significant event: I was one of few women at the packed twelve-thousand Azadi Stadium in Tehran, to watch and obviously, in my case, to report the volleyball game between Iran and the U.S. After 36-odd years of broken ties, the two countries faced each other in the volleyball court to flex their muscles in Tehran; although they had already battled in Los Angeles in May, on that occasion, the USA team outplayed Iran.
